The Sound Emission Ordinance (02-9, Section 15-21 of the City Code) identifies: 15-21.2.(b) A person may not cause or permit noise levels emanating from construction or demolition site activities which exceed: (1) Ninety (90) dBA during daytime hours (2) The levels specified in the Allowable Noise Level Table during nighttime hours. Daytime Hours as being between the times of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., local time.

Complaints: For complaints relating to Construction/Demolition Noise Emission, the Police Department has monitoring equipment. Call the non emergency phone number at 301-600-2101.

Repair of Sidewalk: Property owners are responsible for the repair and upkeep of the public walk fronting along their property. If sidewalk needs replacement, the City has a “Sidewalk Repair Program” in place allowing the property owner to enter into an agreement with the City. The City will make the repairs and bill the property owner for the work performed. Contact the City @ 301-600-3865 for further information.
