Frederick Police detectives arrest suspect in stranger rape...
On Sunday, 10-14-2012, at approximately 2142 hours, officers of the Frederick Police Department were flagged down in the area of the 500 block of N. East St. in Frederick, MD by a passerby. The passerby informed officers that they had just picked up a female that had jumped out of a moving vehicle. Officers contacted the female and determined she was the victim of a stranger rape that had just occurred. The woman reported she was raped by an unknown male in the 100 block of E. South St. after she exited her car from grocery shopping. The victim also had injuries consistent with being assaulted during the rape.
Detectives from the Frederick Police Department responded to assist in the investigation. Det. Mike Morgan was assigned as the lead investigator. A crime scene was located in the 100 block of E. South St. and processing was completed by the Frederick Police Department’s Crime Scene Unit. The victim told investigators that after the rape, the suspect forced her into her car and drove her to the 500 block of N. East St. where she jumped out. The suspect fled the scene with her car. The investigation continued into the early hours of Monday, 10-15-2012 and throughout the day.
Shortly after noon on Monday, a suspect was developed by detectives with the assistance of the community, family members, and friends of the victim. At approximately 1300 hours, detectives received information that the suspect was in the area of E. All Saints St. at S. Carroll St. The suspect was chased from the area by friends of the victim to the area of the 100 block of S. Market St. During that time, there was a physical altercation between the victim’s friends and the suspect. The suspect was stabbed and sustained a minor laceration to his back. The suspect was then chased into a convenience store in the 100 block of S. Market St. where he was held at bay until police arrived. The suspect was identified as Montrelle Denard Bowie (B/M, 12-16-1989) of the 8300 block of Discovery Blvd., Frederick, MD.
Bowie was taken into custody and transported to Frederick Police Headquarters for processing. He was later taken to FMH for treatment of his stab wound and for additional evidence processing. He was then taken to FCADC for the arrest.
The rape victim in this case was treated and released from FMH.

6. Kidnapping
7. Assault 2nd degree
8. Motor Vehicle Unlawful Taking
9. Theft $1,000-$10,000
10. Theft less than $1,000
The Frederick Police Department would like to thank the public, and others who assisted in this investigation. With their help, detectives were able to close the case by arrest within 18 hours of the initial call for service.
