Frederick, MD – Mayor Randy McClement will provide welcoming remarks at The Frederick County Human Relations Commission 16th Annual Naturalization Ceremony, to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, at Tuscarora High School, 5312 Ballenger Creek Pike, Frederick, Md. Up to 100 individuals from dozens of different countries will take the Oath of Allegiance to become naturalized American citizens.

Mayor Randy McClement said, “I applaud these individuals for becoming U.S citizens. I firmly believe that diversity strengthens our community. Frederick, Maryland and the United States are truly fortunate to be the destination people want to call home. Our unique experiences, individual beliefs, and our world view may drive us to believe there are more distinctions between us; but there is more that unites us than divides us.”

The public is invited and encouraged to attend to celebrate the hard work and accomplishment of the country’s newest citizens. “This event shows that, no matter what background we may come from and what differences we may have, native born and naturalized American citizens are bound together by a common civic identity,” said Chairperson Angela Spencer, Human Relations Commission.

For more information about this event, contact Administrative Specialist Denise Smith, Human Relations Department, at 301-600-1109 or via e-mail at dsmith5@frederickcountymd.gov.
