The Tough Mudder event scheduled for Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Crumland Farms has been canceled.
On Saturday, September 8, 2012 a Tough Mudder event was held at Crumland Farms. This was the first day of a planned two day weekend event. The event attracted several thousand participants and spectators to the Frederick area. Law enforcement from the Frederick Police Department and Maryland State Police worked to control traffic around the event. However, the volume of traffic associated with the event created significant traffic disruption, resulting in participants choosing to park outside the designated parking areas established by event officials. The traffic volume, lack of adequate parking and severe weather that impacted the area, resulted in unsafe conditions for motorists and pedestrians. City officials consulted with Tough Mudder representatives to assess safety concerns with holding the event again on Sunday, September 9th. A decision was made by city officials to cancel the Sunday event.
