Correction: FPD Arrests One in Fatal Shooting
At approximately 11:51 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, officers from the Frederick Police Department's Patrol Squad D responded to the 100 Block of Willowdale Drive for reports of a firearm discharged inside an apartment.
While on the scene, officers attempted to locate where the shots had originated when they observed an individual exiting an apartment via a balcony. Responding officers quickly apprehended the individual without incident and took them into custody for questioning.
Inside the apartment, officers discovered a female victim suffering from two gunshot wounds. The female, whose identity is being withheld at this time, was pronounced deceased at Frederick Health Hospital.
The apprehended individual was transported to FPD headquarters for questioning. During this time, Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit gathered sufficient evidence to formally charge, Kevin Eugene Mack, age 42, of Pennsylvania with 1st Degree Murder.
"I'd like to acknowledge the outstanding work of our responding officers, who quickly identified and apprehended the suspect, likely preventing additional violence within our community," expressed Frederick Police Chief, Jason Lando. "On behalf of our entire team, I would also like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of our victim."
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time.
