New Speed Monitoring Systems installed on Christophers Crossing

Christophers Crossing enforcement signs 6-8-23

Two automated speed monitoring systems have been installed on the Eastbound and Westbound lanes of Christophers Crossing at Fieldstone Way and Sawmill Court. The implementation of these systems aims to improve road safety and reduce speeding violations.

In compliance with Maryland law, signage has been strategically placed along Christophers Crossing to alert motorists about the presence of the new speed monitoring systems. The City of Frederick encourages all drivers to be vigilant and adhere to the posted speed limits to ensure the safety of everyone on the road.

To allow for an adjustment period, a 30-day warning period will be implemented, starting on July 10,2023. During this warning period, any vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit by 12 miles per hour will be recorded, but no citations will be issued.

Beginning August 9, 2023, citations will be issued to the registered owner of any vehicle that is recorded exceeding the posted speed limit by 12 miles per hour. The maximum fine for each violation is $40. It is important to note that these citations will not be reported to insurance companies, and no license points will be assessed on the driver's license.

To access additional information regarding the speed monitoring systems and to view the locations of other automated speed monitoring systems within the city, visit the official City of Frederick website at https://www.cityoffrederickmd.gov/525/Speed-Monitoring-Systems
