A Special Workshop has been scheduled for Wednesday evening, July 25th regarding a discussion on pension considerations for The City of Frederick, a main topic of discussion for the 60th Administration.

Evening Workshop Scheduled to Discuss Pension Considerations for The City of Frederick

Frederick, MD – A Special Workshop has been scheduled for Wednesday evening, July 25th regarding a discussion on pension considerations for The City of Frederick, a main topic of discussion for the 60th Administration. The Workshop will begin at 7:15 PM in the Boardroom of City Hall and is open to the public. “Discussion of Pension Consideration” is the sole topic on the agenda.

Presenting at the evening Workshop on “The Basics: Public Pension Management, A Crash Course”, will be Ross P. Charkarz, an Institutional Consulting Director with Graystone Consulting, in the Washington, D.C. office and Bob Scherer, Managing Director of the Washington, DC office for Graystone Consulting. Graystone Consulting is a leading national investment-consulting firm to retirement plans, non-profit organizations, hospitals, insurance companies, religious organizations, and family offices.

Mr. Charkatz is responsible for the advice, construction, implementation, and oversight of institutional investment portfolios. Clients served include municipal, corporate, and AM 100 law firm retirement plans, as well as a variety of foundation and endowment clients. He began his career at PaineWebber prior to joining Graystone Consulting in 2002. Mr. Charkarz is on the Board of Directors of the Association of Professional Investment Consultants and has been recognized as a Top Advisor "Under 40" by Reuters. He holds a BS from the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business and a CIMA from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Scherer plays an integral role in the firm's investment research effort and is involved in both the asset allocation and investment manager research arms of the organization. Mr. Scherer has been consistently recognized as one of the most highly qualified consultants within the industry, appearing on Barron's Top 100 Advisors list every year from 2006 to 2012, Research Magazine's Top Advisors list, as the #1 Advisor in Washington DC in Barron's 2012, and as an inaugural member of "Who's Who of Investment Management Consulting". In 2009, his team was recognized by Barron's as the Top Investment Advisor team in Washington, DC., and in 2012, the team was cited as one of the country's Top 100 Advisory Teams to public and corporate retirement plans by Plan Sponsor magazine. Mr. Scherer received his Masters in Business Administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Bucknell University.

The July 25th evening Workshop will be televised live on Cable Channel 99 and stream via Granicus on the City’s website at www.cityoffrederick.com.
