The Frederick Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit has charged a juvenile male with multiple crimes after attempted carjacking
On 03-14-2023, around 7:35 PM, officers of the Frederick Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of Peters Lane and N East Street, in Frederick City, in reference to a robbery.
During the investigation, it was determined the juvenile male suspect (14 years old) was known to the victim. During the incident, the juvenile male suspect asked the victim for a ride to another location in Frederick City - the victim agreed. When the victim arrived at that location, the juvenile male suspect displayed a knife and told the victim he was taking the keys to the vehicle. When the victim refused, the juvenile male suspect attempted to stab the victim with the knife before exiting the vehicle and fleeing from the scene.
The juvenile was located at a nearby motel and taken into custody. The name of the juvenile is not being released due to his age and the charges stemming from this incident are as follows:
- Attempted Armed Carjacking
- Attempted Armed Robbery
- Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft
- Attempted Theft ($1500 to under $25000)
- Assault – 1st Degree
- Assault – 2nd Degree
- Malicious Destruction of Property (under $1000)
