The Frederick Police Department has arrested the second suspect involved in a firearms discharge in the area of South Market Street, W. All Saints Street and Ice Street.
At approximately 8:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, the Frederick Police Department received multiple reports of gunfire in the Unit Block of South Market Street near the area of W. All Saints Street. The calls described two individuals in a confrontation that eventually escalated to the pair exchanging gunfire with each other.
Upon arriving at the scene, a Frederick Police Department officer observed one of suspects reported to be involved in the exchange fleeing the scene and discharged his department-issued firearm at one of the suspects, later identified as Atu Abasi Adeyemi. Adeyemi, 50, discarded his firearm and raised his hands in the air. He was taken into custody without incident. No one involved in the incident was injured.
Adeyemi was charged with Reckless Endangerment, Discharging a firearm in the city, illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, illegal possession of ammunition, having a loaded handgun on his person, illegally concealing a dangerous weapon, possession of firearms and controlled dangerous substances, and possession controlled dangerous substances other than cannabis. He was ordered held without bail.
The Frederick Police Department continued conducting a thorough investigation to work to identify the second suspect involved in the firearms discharges. The investigation led to the identification of a suspect and on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022, at approximately 10:20 a.m. officers conducted a search warrant of an area motel where they arrested the suspect, identified as David Gray, 32, of Frederick.
Gray is charged with two counts of first-degree assault, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, and use of a firearm during a violent crime, possession of a loaded handgun on person, possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony. Gray was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center where he is currently being held.

An investigation into the officer-involved use of force remains open and is being conducted by the Montgomery County Police Department.
