Frederick Police make arrest for handgun and drugs during a traffic stop.
On November 3rd, 2022, at approximately 1230 hours, Officer Fernholz conducted a traffic stop in the 1st block of Willowdale Drive. While Officer Fernholz conducted the business of the traffic stop, K9 Officer Milyard and his partner K9 Gino arrived to conduct a K9 sniff of the vehicle. K9 Gino gave a positive alert to the presence of CDS odor within the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest. While officers were placing the driver under arrest the front seat passenger in vehicle, identified as Guardado-Mercado, Jose Eduardo, stood up from the curb. Officers instructed Guardado-Mercado to remain seated. Guardado-Mercado failed to comply and ran from officers. A short foot chase ensued, while chasing Guardado-Mercado officers observed him throw a handgun onto the pavement. The handgun slid underneath a marked police cruiser parked in the parking lot. Guardado-Mercado was apprehended without further incident.

- Possession/Use of firearm in commission of felony PWID
