The Frederick Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit has charged the person responsible for two recent robberies.
On 08-23-2022, around 8:40 PM, officers of the Frederick Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the A-1 Mart, located at 649 Himes Avenue, in Frederick City, in reference to a commercial robbery.
During the investigation, it was determined the suspect entered the business and passed a note to the employee that indicated he was armed and demanded money. The suspect was wearing a mask and left the business before police arrival and after being handed an undisclosed amount of currency.
On 08-25-2022, around 6:06 PM, officers responded to a second robbery attempt at the A-1 Mart. The robbery attempt was not successful and information and evidence gathered at the scene helped to identify the name of the suspect and the location he fled. Officers and detectives set a perimeter around the suspect’s residence and he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect’s name is Stefan Alejandro Gajate.
A search and seizure warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence and evidence linking the suspect to the robbery and attempted robbery at the A-1 Mart was located and confiscated. Gajate was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center (FCADC) for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner, where he was initially held without bond.
