On July 1, 2022 at approximately 11:00 p.m., Officer Solano and Officer Inman were on routine patrol in the area of the 400 block of North Market Street. During that time, they observed a vehicle approach them from behind with a headlight not working. They initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and upon contact with the passenger, Leonard Morris, Officer Inman observed a large baggie containing more than 10 grams of suspected marijuana in plain view.
Morris was asked to step out of the vehicle, at which point he was placed under arrest for possession of more than 10 grams of marijuana. A subsequent search of Morris revealed additional marijuana, quantity of suspected crack cocaine, and a loaded handgun. Further inspection of the firearm revealed it was a “ghost gun”, meaning it did not have a serial number. Morris was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center where he was seen by a District Court Commissioner and held without bond. All events occurred in Frederick MD.
