The Frederick Police Department early Friday morning arrested and charged two Frederick men for firearm and drug trafficking, seizing five firearms, more than 1,000 grams of illegal drugs and thousands of dollars in a search and seizure operation that was part of a multi-month investigation.
Since the beginning of March 2022, members of the Frederick Police Department’s, Tactical Investigations Unit (TIU), assigned to the Baltimore Washington High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force, have been investigating Markus Asa Thomas Marvine. Information obtained during the course of this investigation indicated that Marvine was actively involved in the illegal trafficking and later distribution of marijuana and several different types of controlled dangerous substances throughout the area of Frederick County, Maryland.
Frederick Police Department’s, TIU previously arrested Marvine on March 10, 2022 where he was charged with the following and released on a $10,000 Unsecured Bond:
Firearm/drug trafficking crime
CDS distribution with a firearm
Possessing a loaded handgun in a vehicle
Possessing a handgun in a vehicle
Loaded handgun on person
Handgun on person
Possession of CDS with intent to distribute (Marijuana)
Possession of CDS Marijuana 10-plus grams
Upon his release, FPD continued investigating Marvine for several months leading to Detective Johnston working with the Frederick County States Attorney’s Office to secure search and seizure warrants for both Marvine’s apartment and vehicle in The City of Frederick.
On June 17, 2022 members of the Frederick Police Department’s Special Response Team (SRT), and TIU executed warrants on the apartment in the Unit Block of Waverley Drive and vehicle. Officers found the following items: 9mm Beretta Model 96D, PMF P80 “Ghost Gun” firearm, Steven’s Model 320 12-gauge shotgun, Del-Ton Inc. AR-15 with 65-round drum magazine, Smith & Wesson M&P, 614 grams of suspected marijuana, 420 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, and $3,702.00 in US Currency.
The items found during the search warrants are indicative of a significant level of distribution and related to trafficking of multiple controlled dangerous substances. Through the evidence located in the course of serving the warrants, FPD linked Anthony Ajene Byrd, of the same address as Marvine, to the investigation. Detective Johnston charged Marvine and Byrd at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center and were ordered held without bail.
