UPDATE-November 18, 2011 – On Friday, November 18th officers with the Frederick Police Department conducted a Pedestrian Safety Enforcement Operation in two locations in downtown Frederick. The first location was at the intersection of North Market Street and Church Street. The second location was at the intersection of North East Street and East Church Street.
Officers assigned to observe the above locations handed out 164 Pedestrian Safety Brochures and issued 3 State of Maryland citations. Of the Maryland citations issued, one was issued to a pedestrian for unsafely crossing the roadway and two were issued to motor vehicle drivers who failed to yield to the right-of-way of pedestrians in crosswalks.
