Community Responds to Operation Safe Speed with over 200+ Concerns Submitted

On May 3, 2021, the City announced the formation of a new initiative designed to increase traffic safety and combat speeding: Operation Safe Speed.  Since the announcement, the City has received over 200 concerns via the online form.

All submissions have been reviewed by the Frederick Police Department (FPD) in consultation with the Department of Public Works. In response to the 200+ submissions to date, FPD has conducted 142 traffic stops, made multiple arrests due to license violations, and installed seven speed signs. Additionally, nearly 20 complaints were shared with the City’s engineering department for further review and discussion.
