In recent weeks, the Frederick Police Department (FPD) has received several reports of firearm discharges in the W. 6th street area of downtown Frederick.
The agency wants to ensure the public that significant amounts of investigative resources are being put into these incidents. Investigators are looking into the possibility the incidents could be related based on timeframe and location. During these incidents, no individuals have been struck by the gunfire.
FPD officers and detectives have completed several neighborhood canvasses related to these crimes and will continue to increase patrols in the neighborhoods. However, FPD detectives are asking anyone with information or anyone who may have cameras and has not already spoken to an officer or detective to contact the FPD via a tip line at: 301-600-TIPS (8477), via email to fpdcrimetip@frederickmdpolice.org, or text 240-674-TIPS (8477).
The City of Frederick is a participating jurisdiction with Metro Crime Stoppers (MCS) of Maryland. Submitting a tip through MCS is anonymous, and if the information leads to an arrest or criminal charges, the tipster receives a cash reward.
