Frederick Police Department investigating string of slashed tires incidents

The Frederick Police Department is investigating a recent rash of incidents where residents’ tires have been slashed in the Downtown Area. We are aware that there have likely been some occurrences where these incidents were not reported to police. The department encourages all residents to immediately report to police if their vehicles tires have been slashed or tampered with. Reporting these incidents is extremely important for the department's investigative efforts. Additionally, any Ring camera footage that residents could supply to the department could also be helpful in solving this case.

FPD encourages all residents park in well-lit areas to help discourage an offender from tampering with your vehicle. Investing in a camera system if you can afford one can also help deliver video evidence that could be helpful in catching the offender or offenders.

Anyone who is in the downtown area and has observed something unusual or who may have cameras in that area, please contact Frederick Police Department. Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact the department’s tip lines:

  • Voicemail at 301-600-TIPS (8477),
  • Text message at 240-674-TIPS (8477),
  • Email at

The tip lines and e-mail are not for urgent matters. To reach a dispatcher immediately, please use our non-emergency number: 301-600-2102. Use 9-1-1 for crimes in progress and other emergencies.
