September 23, 2020
FREDERICK, MD – At 8:09 a.m. on September 23, 2020, the Frederick Police Department (FPD) received a call from a citizen reporting that her car had been struck by gunfire sometime overnight. Patrol officers, detectives, and a crime scene technician responded to the 100 block of Willowdale Drive to investigate. Officers located two vehicles that had been struck by bullets.
Officers and detectives conducted interviews with residents in the area, and a member of the Crime Scene Unit collected evidence. Based on statements from several residents, it is likely the incident occurred during the evening on September 22. However, FPD received no reports of firearms discharges or suspicious activity in that area during that time. Investigators do not believe the damaged vehicles are linked to the person or persons responsible for the illegal activity.
FPD officers will continue to conduct frequent patrol checks in the area. We encourage residents to report suspicious activity to us immediately, including noises that may be gunfire.
