On Thursday, June 4, the Board of Aldermen approved a COVID-19 relief grant program to support local nonprofit and other non-governmental civic organizations whose mission is to provide support to children who are 18 or younger and /or served by Frederick County Public Schools. The grant program was proposed by Alderwoman Donna Kuzemchak and passed with a vote of 5-0. The grant program is funded by $200,000 of unused fund balance. The Board also approved a special ordinance to formally make the funds available.
The application is now available at frederickmd.gov/covidreliefgrants and are accepted on a rolling basis. The first round of applications will be reviewed after Friday, June 12, 2020. Nonprofits can apply for funding to be used to promote the general welfare of children who reside in the City. Grants awards will not exceed $10,000.00 each and may be awarded to an organization only one time.
