FREDERICK POLICE DEPARTMENT - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Frederick Police Investigate Shots Fired Incident

FREDERICK, MD – At 5:50 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2020, the Frederick Police Department (FPD) received several calls about gun shots in the 1500 block of Andover Lane in Frederick. Officers arrived and spoke with several witnesses, who confirmed that several shots were fired in the area.  Witnesses described seeing a red sport utility vehicle pursuing a black sedan (pictures attached).  An occupant of the red vehicle was firing a gun.

Officers also learned that the black sedan struck a parked car on Apple Creek Road, but the driver fled the scene.  Surveillance videos from a few residences in the neighborhood confirmed the witnesses’ accounts.  Officers closed several areas of roadway for collection of evidence.  During the course of the investigation, no victim or victims have come forward, and none have been identified through investigative efforts.  Investigators do not believe anyone was struck by the gunfire.

The FPD thoroughly investigates all confirmed firearms discharges.  Additionally, the Patrol Divisions adjust their deployment focus based on crime patterns.  However, cooperation with citizens who have information about incidents is crucial in identifying the offender or offenders.

We ask anyone with information about this incident to contact Detective Tyler Deatrich at 240-549-4541.  Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact the department’s tip lines: by voicemail at 301-600-TIPS (8477), text message at 240-674-TIPS (8477), or by email fpdcrimetip@frederickmdpolice.org.
