Utility Assistance Program Now Accepting Applications

Beginning August 3, 2020, The Frederick Community Action Agency’s Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP) began administering Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) CARES funding to assist Frederick City residents with utility emergencies due to COVID-19. The City of Frederick reallocated these funds in late July for use in response to the current pandemic.

In order to be eligible for CDBG CARES funding you:

  • Must be a City of Frederick resident
  • Must be financially impacted by COVID-19
  • Must complete the OHEP application and provide all required documents
  • Must be under the Household Income Guidelines - The Household Income Limit for the CDBG CARES funds are higher than the Income Limits for the OHEP program

OHEP applications can be completed online at mydhrbenefits.dhr.state.md.us; printed out an application at dhs.maryland.gov/office-of-home-energy-programs. Paper applications can be mailed to PO Box 3929 Frederick, MD 21705, faxed to 301-600-2690 or emailed to ohep@cityoffrederickmd.gov. A document drop-off box is also located outside the interior office door at 420 East Patrick Street. 

Governor Hogan has extended his executive order on utility service shut off until at least September 1. The order applies to companies that provide gas, electricity, water, phone, and internet service.

Al comienzo de 3 de Agosto 2020, el programa de energia de la Agencia de la comunidad de Frederick (OHEP) empezo administrando la beca de desarollo de bloque comunitario (CDBG) fondo CARES para asistir a residentes de la ciudad de Frederick con emergencias de utilidades debido al COVID-19. La ciudad de Frederick realoco estos fondos en Julio para uso en respuesta a la corriente pandemia.

En orden de ser elegible para fondos de CDBG CARES usted:

-Debe ser residente de la ciudad de Frederick
-Debe haber sido impactado economicamente por el COVID-19
-Debe completer la aplicacion del OHEP y proveer todo document requerido
-Debe estar bajo la guia de ingresos para hogares-El limite de ingresos para fondos del CDBG CARES es mas alto que el limite de ingresos para le programa OHEP

La aplicacion para el OHEP puede ser completadia en el sitio web; Mydhrbenefits.dhr.state.md.us; puede imprimir la aplicacion en; dhs.maryland.gov/office-of-home-energy-programs. La aplicacion puede ser enviada por correo al PO Box 3929 Frederick, MD 21705, o puede ser enviada por fax al 301-600-2690. Tambien puede ser enviada atravez de correo electronico a ohep@cityoffrederickmd.gov . Un buzon tambien esta disponible localizado afuera de a puerta de la oficina interior en 420 East Patrick Street.

El Governador Hogan ha extendido esta orden ejecutiva sobre desconecciones de utilidades hasta por lo menos el 1 de Septiembre. La orden aplica a companias que proveen gas, electricidad, agua, telefono y servicio de internet.
