UPDATE: Death Investigation from July 29 Ruled a Homicide, Victim Identified
On the morning of July 29, 2020, an officer of the Frederick Police Department (FPD) located the body of an adult female near Rock Creek at Waverley Drive. The woman was deceased. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has determined this case to be a homicide. The identity of the victim is Kelly Nicole Serra, 37, of Frederick. Detectives continue to investigate and pursue leads in this case. We believe this crime was an isolated incident. FPD appreciates the public’s cooperation, and requests anyone with information about this crime to contact us 24 hours a day at 301-600-2102. Frederick Police Conduct Death Investigation
FREDERICK, MD – At 8:23 a.m. on July 29, 2020, a Frederick Police Department (FPD) patrol officer was conducting a patrol check on foot in the first block of Waverley Drive. During the patrol, the officer located a body of an adult female in the wood line along Rock Creek near Waverley Drive. The woman was deceased.
Members of the FPD’s Criminal Investigations Section and Crime Scene Unit responded to conduct a death investigation. Members of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) Crime Scene Unit also assisted in processing the scene. FPD thanks the FCSO for their assistance in the scene investigation.
At this time, FPD is investigating in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. FPD will provide details about the woman’s identity and the cause and manner of death when appropriate.
