The Frederick Police Department has charged a man due to his involvement in spraying graffiti in Baker Park
On 06-27-2020, officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to Baker Park for the report of multiple graffiti complaints. Upon arrival, officers located spray paint on the covered bridge, bandshell, and the pump house at Culler Lake.
Spray-painted graffiti at these locations included anti-police rhetoric and racial slurs. Through the investigation, Officer First Class Bentley linked the incidents in Baker Park to additional graffiti complaints reported to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.
Through working with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, a male suspect was positively identified as, Jose Margarito Guerra. Criminal charges were applied for through the Frederick County District Court Commissioner’s Office, charging Margarito Guerra with charges related to malicious destruction of property. A criminal summons was issued and, on 07-07-2020, Margarito Guerra was contacted and served with all necessary charging documents pertaining to this case.

The Frederick Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident, as it is believed Margarito Guerra was not the only suspect involved.
