[ARCHIVED] Frederick Police Investigate Firearms Discharges & Related Destruction of Property

FREDERICK POLICE DEPARTMENT - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 12, 2019

Frederick Police Investigate Firearms Discharges & Related Destruction of Property

At 6:46 p.m. on June 11, 2020, the Frederick Police Department (FPD) received a call for a report of a firearm discharge in the area of the 1600 block of Shookstown Road.  A caller reported hearing several gunshots, and saw a white, four-door sedan speed off.  Officers checked the area, but did not locate the suspicious vehicle or evidence of a discharge at that time.

At 10:51 p.m. on June 11, the FPD received a call for report of a firearm discharge in the area of Grant Place and Bolton Street. The caller advised hearing a single gunshot, and observed four individuals flee north on Grant Place.   The caller believed the group that had fled consisted of three males and one female.  Responding officers located a spent shell casing in the area where the caller had seen the group at the time of the gunshot.  An officer collected the casing as evidence.

At 11:34 p.m. on June 11, officers investigated a destruction of property at a residence in the 1000 block of Storrington Drive.  The victim told officers that he had located a bullet hole in a second story bedroom.  An officer recovered a projectile and submitted it as evidence.  A resident told officers he heard a loud bang at approximately 6:30 p.m.  Officers canvassed the area for additional evidence.

The Frederick Police Department is asking anyone with more information about these incidents to contact Detective Tyler Deatrich at 240-549-4541.  Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact the department’s tip lines: by voicemail at 301-600-TIPS (8477), to text message at 240-674-TIPS (8477), or by email at fpdcrimetip@frederickmdpolice.org.
