June5_HH

The City of Frederick, the Frederick Police Department, and local public safety partners are actively collaborating to ensure the welfare of all residents during upcoming community demonstrations and will be supporting the first amendment liberties of demonstrators. As The City of Frederick continues to reopen from the impacts of COVID-19 and with the planned demonstrations, the return to large crowds to our downtown area is expected. Due to the expected crowd size, multiple agencies within Frederick will be adjusting their services and operations accordingly:

Expected Road Closures: Throughout Friday afternoon and evening, temporary road closures are expected on All Saints Street, Market Street, and 2nd Street. Other street closures may be necessary and will be communicated as applicable.

Public Facilities: Restrooms and handwashing stations are available throughout the City. Restrooms in the Church Street and Carroll Creek parking garages are open 9 AM to 10 PM. Temporary bathrooms and handwashing stations will also be available at Mullinix Park and Baker Park.

Parking: All parking garages in The City of Frederick are open. Street parking is unavailable in certain downtown areas due to the COVID-19 Recovery Curb-Side Pickup Zones. Parking will not be permitted on Market Street between All Saints Street and 3rd Street effective at 12PM tomorrow.

Frederick County Transit: Beginning with the 12:15 PM depart from the East Street Transit Center, the #50 Connector will not travel on Bentz Street but will continue on 7th to East Street. The bus will then turn right onto East Street and continue to the Transit Center. Beginning at 12:15 pm, the #40 Connector, upon bus departures from the East Street Transit Center, will travel north on East Street. It will turn left onto 4th Street/Rosemont Ave and will then turn left onto West College Terrace. The #40 will then turn right on W. Patrick St resuming the normal routing.

Frederick County Health Department: FCHD reminds the community to be safe and healthy! Please keep in mind that COVID-19 is still widespread in our community. Any gathering or travel may increase your risk of COVID-19. Everyone should: wear a face covering, wash/sanitize hands frequently, maintain 6 feet from people outside your household, stay hydrated, use sun protection, know the signs of heat-related illness.

Frederick Community Action Agency: Due to nearby expected road closures, the FCAA Soup Kitchen will serve dinner from 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

As a reminder, to stay informed on the latest road closures, transit adjustments, and other public health and safety matters, residents can opt-in to receive updates by texting JUNERALLIES to 888777 through the AlertFC system.
