Frederick Police Investigate Attempted Murder and Robbery
FREDERICK, MD – At about 2:16 p.m. on May 26, 2020, officers of The Frederick Police Department responded to the first block of Winchester Street in Frederick for a reported robbery. Officers arriving at the scene located an adult, male victim with significant injuries to his head. The victim was conscious and able to communicate with officers. EMS arrived, provided treatment, and transported the victim to a regional trauma center.
During the investigation, officers learned that the suspect pulled a handgun on the victim and discharged the handgun at the victim’s head. The suspect then assaulted the victim with punches, and stole the victim’s wallet. The suspect fled the area.
The victim and witnesses identified the suspect as Elvin Maxwell Addison, Jr., 40, of the first block of Winchester Street. At about 3:15 p.m., officers searching for Addison Jr., located him driving a vehicle in the area of the 500 block of West Patrick Street. The officers initiated a traffic stop. While officers attempted to arrest Addison, Jr., he resisted their efforts. Addison, Jr. assaulted and bit an officer. Addison, Jr. also attempted to pull the handgun of an officer from its holster.
Officers transported Addison, Jr. to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center where he is currently held without bond. Det. Irons charged Addison Jr. with the following criminal offenses:
(1) Count - Attempted First Degree Murder
(1) Count - Attempted Second Degree Murder
(1) Count - Assault 1st Degree
(1) Count - Armed Robbery
(1) Count - Theft $100 - $1500
(1) Count - Firearm Used in Felony/Violent Crime
(7) Counts - Assault 2nd Degree- Law Enforcement Officer
(1) Count - Attempt Disarm Law Enforcement Officer
(1) Count - Possession of A Regulated Firearm By A Prohibited Person Based On Felony Conviction
(1) Count - Felony Possession Firearm W/ Prior Drug Felony Conviction
