Frederick Police Charge Suspect in Non-Fatal Domestic-Related Shooting
FREDERICK, MD – At about 2:00 a.m. on January 19, 2020, officers of the Frederick Police Department (FPD) responded to Frederick Health Hospital (FHH). FHH staff reported that they were treating an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound to her head. Hospital staff stabilized the patient, and transported her to an area trauma center for more advanced care.
Officers and detectives identified the victim and several other persons who arrived at FHH with the victim. They also identified the location of the incident as a residence on South Pendleton Court in Frederick. Officers and detectives secured the residence and executed a search and seizure warrant. Detectives also conducted interviews with several people.
On March 16, 2020, based on evidence obtained during the investigation, Detective Stephen Radtke applied for charges against Carlos Antonio Sanchez, 30, of Frederick. A District Court Commissioner issued an arrest warrant for Sanchez for the following crimes: Assault – First Degree, Assault – Second Degree, and Reckless Endangerment.
Later on March 16, 2020, members of the FPD Criminal Investigations Section arrested Sanchez and served the arrest warrant. He is currently incarcerated at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center awaiting a bond review in the District Court.
