First Energy Begins City Tree Pruning

Work will continue now through March 2020

The City of Frederick has recently been notified of regularly scheduled vegetation management by First Energy. First Energy has hired line-clearance contractor NG Gilbert to perform the tree pruning work. The work is expected to continue through March 2020.

First Energy will be notifying residents with orange door tags as they near areas of the City. The City of Frederick’s social media pages will be updated as new areas of work are identified and communicated by NG Gilbert.

Healthy, beautiful trees are something everyone enjoys. Trees, however, are a major cause of power outages. These tree pruning efforts help to control vegetation for the safety and reliability of our electric lines. All trees planted within the public right-of-ways are managed by The City of Frederick, which are regulated under the State of Maryland Roadside Tree Care Laws.

The City thanks residents for their patience during these efforts. For questions regarding First Energy’s tree trimming policies, please call 1.888.544.4877. For other questions, contact City Arborist, Tom Rippeon, at or 301-600-1233.
