Frederick Police Investigating Suspicious Death (Possible Hit and Run)
FREDERICK, MD – Last evening at approximately 8:51 pm, the Frederick Police Department received a call for an injured person in the unit block of Hillcrest Drive. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was unresponsive; bystanders on the scene were already providing CPR. The male, identified as Richard Shelton, age 58, of Frederick, Maryland, was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Crash reconstruction officers responded to the scene to handle the investigation. Injuries sustained by Mr. Shelton indicated that he may have been struck by a vehicle. At this time, officers are investigating this as a possible hit and run vehicle accident and are asking for the public’s assistance with providing information. If you were in the Hillcrest Drive area between 8:40 – 8:51 pm, and may have seen something, please contact A/Cpl.
