
Frederick Police Make Arrest in Woodsboro Bank and American Legion Armed Robberies
FREDERICK, MD – The Frederick Police Department has made an arrest in connection with two recent armed robberies. Anthony Young, age 33 of Jefferson, MD was arrested on Monday, December 16, in connection with two armed robberies. The first occurred on November 18, 2019, at the American Legion (1450 Taney Avenue) and the second was on December 5, 2019, at the Woodsboro Bank (900 N. East Street). Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division have worked tirelessly to identify the suspect in these cases.
On December 15, members of the Frederick Police Department served a Search and Seizure Warrant on a residence in Jefferson, Maryland in regards to these two recent armed robberies. Upon service of the warrant, Anthony Young was taken into custody and questioned. During the questioning, Mr. Young made several incriminating statements and several pieces of evidence were recovered at the residence during the warrant service. Mr. Young is being charged with the following.
- Armed Robbery
- Reckless Endangerment
- Felon in possession of a handgun in commission of a violent crime
- 1st Degree Assault
- 2nd Degree Assault
- Theft under $1,500
This is still an ongoing investigation. Detectives are working with the State’s Attorney Office to determine what additional charges are appropriate.
