Frederick Police Investigate Shooting
FREDERICK, MD – This morning at 1:17 am, the Frederick Police Department received reports of gunshots in the area of Fourth Street and North Market Street. Officers arrived in that area and located an adult male victim with several gunshot wounds. Medical personnel transported the victim to a hospital in the region for treatment. At the time of this release, the victim appears to be in stable condition.
Since the previous weekend, the Frederick Police Department has deployed additional officers to patrol areas with a higher potential for gun crime, based on a combination of historical data and current trends. Funding for this additional staffing is through the Governor's Office of Crime Control and Prevention’s Gun Violence Reduction Initiative grant. Additionally, the Frederick Police Department continue to investigate all violent crimes as the highest priority.
Witnesses, informants, and video footage are prime sources of evidence that help detectives solve cases.
