Frederick’s Most Wanted Program Celebrates 10th Anniversary
FREDERICK, MD – April marked the 10th Anniversary of the Frederick’s Most Wanted (FMW) Program. The Frederick Police Department in partnership with the Frederick News Post began the FMW program in April 2009 and, to date, has featured 753 people with active warrants. Of those featured, 585 have been arrested.
The first publication of FMW in The Frederick News Post occurred on April 4, 2009, and featured four individuals: Michael Fluker, Paula Fatka, Tyler Beckwith, and Rodney Murchison – all have since been arrested. The first FMW arrest was Mr. Gregory Thomas on May 5, 2009. Just two days after Mr. Thomas was featured, he turned himself in to police.
“I would like to thank our community partners for their assistance over the past ten years for their efforts in bringing criminals to justice through the Frederick Most Wanted Program, Hargis said. This program is an excellent example of community and law enforcement working together to keep our city safe”.
The program started with a simple premise; every other Sunday, the Frederick News Post would feature up to four individuals who are wanted for various reasons. Many of those arrested have seen themselves featured as FMW, and then turned themselves in to law enforcement. In other cases, people have called in tips leading to their arrest.
