Frederick Police Install Permanent Medication Drop Box
FREDERICK, MD - The Frederick Police Department has placed a permanent “medication drop box” behind police department headquarters for the community to safely dispose of expired, unused, and unwanted medications, including controlled substances.
The drop box is located in the parking lot of Frederick Police Department Headquarters (behind the courthouse), located at 100 West Patrick Street, enter on Court Street. The drug collection box is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is monitored by video surveillance. Unwanted medications can be dropped into the drop box with no questions asked.
Accepted medications are:
- Prescription and over-the-counter medications
- Liquid medications in their original container
- Tablets and capsules
- Medical creams/ointments
- Vitamins
- Nasal Sprays
- Pet medication
Not Accepted:
- Syringes and needles (i.e. EpiPens)
- Aerosols such as inhalers
- Thermometers
- Medical equipment
- Intravenous solutions
- Medical waste
