Frederick Police Investigate Non-Fatal Shooting
FREDERICK, MD – At approximately 3:01 pm on Friday, March 29, 2019, the Frederick Police Department received a call from Frederick Memorial Hospital. Hospital staff reported that a man with a gunshot wound was in the emergency department. Patrol officers and detectives arrived at the hospital and conducted interviews with the victim and a few potential witnesses who had accompanied the victim to the hospital. The victim is an adult male, and he was shot once in his right thigh. The injury does not appear to be life-threatening.
Officers learned that the incident had occurred near the 200 block of Appleton Place in Frederick. Officers went to that area to locate a crime scene and recover potential evidence. Several witnesses confirmed having heard gunfire earlier in the day. It should be noted that no one called the police to report hearing gunfire. Based on witness accounts, two possible suspects fled on foot after the gunshots.
