Frederick Police Make Arrest of Suspect in Hit and Run Personal Injury Accident
FREDERICK, MD – On Monday, March 25, 2019, at approximately 8:09 pm, Officer Walsleben responded to a personal injury accident in the area of N. McCain Drive and W. Patrick Street. The victim stated that a vehicle had struck the back of his vehicle and that the striking vehicle left the scene. Witnesses to the incident provided officers with the license plate number. The victim was treated at the scene and released.
At approximately 9:27 pm, Officers located the striking vehicle in the unit block of Waverley Drive. The driver of the vehicle, Mr. Leonardo Augustin Carrera Sanchez, age 34, was found sleeping in the driver’s seat. The suspect refused officers commands to exit the vehicle and resisted arrest. During the struggle to remove Mr. Carrera Sanchez from the vehicle, he attempted to disarm one of the officers. The officers were able to remove him from the vehicle and take him into custody. He was transported to Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
