Frederick Police Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint
FREDERICK, MD - On March 16, 2019, Officers from the Frederick Police Department conducted a Sobriety Checkpoint westbound in the 500 block of West Patrick Street between 10 pm and 1 am. Officers stopped and contacted 217 drivers as part of an effort to promote safe driving and checked for signs of alcohol-impaired driving as well as other traffic safety violations. All the drivers also received driver safety tips and information regarding impaired driving, speeding and seatbelts. One DUI arrest was made during the checkpoint.
Checkpoints conducted by the Frederick Police Department are part of the Toward Zero Deaths campaign and are funded by a grant from the Maryland Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office.
Traffic crashes continue to be a leading cause of death for Maryland residents. Police urge drivers to always drive sober, obey the speed limit, wear a seat belt and eliminate distractions. If you see an impaired driver on the road, please call 911.
