Frederick Police Investigate Firearm Discharge
FREDERICK, MD – At about 1829 hours on January 24, 2019, the Frederick Police Department received several calls about gunshots being fired in the area of Carrollton Drive and Prospect Boulevard. Officers arrived and spoke with several witnesses, who confirmed that several shots had been fired. Officers did not locate anyone who had been struck or otherwise injured by the gunfire. Officers did locate a vehicle that had been struck, and contacted the vehicle owner. The 400 and 500 blocks of Carrollton Drive were closed while the scene was processed for evidence.
Detectives in the Criminal Investigations Section investigate thoroughly all confirmed firearms discharges. Additionally, the Patrol Divisions adjust their deployment focus based on violent crime patterns. However, contact and cooperation with citizens who have information about incidents is crucial in identifying the offender or offenders.
