
February 15, 2019 Update:
The Frederick Police Department Criminal Investigations Section reported on January 23, 2019, that Mr. Dakevis Maryland had been charged in connection with the October 2017 burglary of the Public Storage facility on Prospect Boulevard. After additional consultation with the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office, this case is being held open for further investigation. Mr. Maryland has not been charged at this time.

Frederick Investigators Charge for 2017 Burglary
FREDERICK, MD – On 10/28/2017 at approximately 0930hrs., officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to Public Storage at 396 Prospect Blvd. for a report of a burglary. Upon arrival, investigators found that over 250 storage units had been broken into. Of those units broken into, 58 victims were able to confirm that items were stolen. The total value of the items reported stolen was over $88,000.
Based on evidence located at the scene, Det. Irons was able to identify Dakevis Larry Maryland (pictured below) as a suspect. A DNA search warrant was completed confirming that the DNA located on evidence at the scene was, in fact, Mr. Maryland’s. As of 1/22/19, Det. Irons has filed charges against Mr. Maryland for the following crimes;
58 counts - 2nd Degree burglary
58 counts- 4th Degree Burglary
3 counts- Malicious Destruction of Property under $1,000
2 counts- Malicious Destruction of Property $1,000- $25,000
2 counts- Theft under $100
36 counts- Theft between $100- $1,500
15 counts- Theft between $1,500- $25,000
1 count- Theft Scheme between $25,000-$100,000
Det. Irons is in the process of locating and contacting all 58 victims. Mr. Maryland is currently in the custody of another jurisdiction within the state of Maryland on unrelated charges.
