As officers were attempting to arrest 3 subjects, they were assaulted by two of the offenders.
On 11-28-2018, at approximately 6:54 PM, members of the Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit were conducting a drug investigation in the downtown area of Frederick City. During the investigation, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by 3 subjects on Grove BLVD. The subjects were identified as Kelsey Fick, Robert Woollard and Dillion Szaroleta.
During the traffic stop a K9 unit responded and the K9 alerted to the presence of drugs within the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and officers located 3 vials of heroin, 4 hypodermic syringes and several prescription pills. All 3 occupants of the vehicle were arrested.
After being arrested Szaroleta was placed in the back seat of an officer’s car. As officers were waiting for a female officer to respond to search Fick, Fick assaulted a Street Crimes Unit member by attempting to kick him in the groin, but instead struck him in the knee. As officers were attempting to control Fick, Szaroleta became violent and began kicking the police vehicle window in an attempt to break it out. When officers opened the police vehicle door to stop Szaroleta, he spit directly into one of the officer’s face. After a brief struggle, both Fick and Szaroleta were brought under control.
Woollard was cooperative with officers during the entire incident.
All 3 suspects were later transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing. Fick and Szaroleta were charged with numerous offenses including Possession of Heroin, Possession of Paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest, 2nd Degree Assault and Disorderly Conduct. Fick was released by the District Court Commissioner without any bond and Szaroleta was released by the District Court Commissioner on an unsecure bond.
Woollard was charged with Possession of Heroin and Possession of Paraphernalia. He was also released by the District Court Commissioner without any bond.
