Frederick, MD. In the area of W Patrick St and Grove Rd, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle after committing a traffic violation. During the traffic stop a K9 sniff was conducted on the vehicle and the K9 alerted to the odor of drugs in the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Dalonte Antonio Johnson, was asked to step out of the vehicle to be placed under arrest. Before Johnson got out of the car, he told officers that he had a weapon under his seat. Officers placed Johnson under arrest and conducted a search of the stopped vehicle. Under the drivers seat, a black in color, Ruger, LCP .380 semi automatic handgun, which was loaded, was located. Through the course of the Frederick Police officers investigation, they found that Johnson was prohibited from possessing a firearm. A small amount of suspected Marijuana was also located in the vehicle.
Johnson was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center and charged with the following:
1. Possession of a regulated firearm as a prohibited possessor
2. Carry and Transport a handgun in a vehicle.
3. Possession of Ammunition
