[ARCHIVED] Outstanding Preservation Efforts Awarded

On Thursday evening May 3rd, outstanding preservation efforts throughout The City of Frederick were honored by Mayor Randy McClement and the Historic Preservation Awards Committee, an event that marked the start of National Preservation Month.

Outstanding Preservation Efforts Awarded
National Preservation Month Kick-Off

Frederick -- On Thursday evening May 3rd, outstanding preservation efforts throughout The City of Frederick were honored by Mayor Randy McClement and the Historic Preservation Awards Committee, an event that marked the start of National Preservation Month. Awards were given to the following dedicated individuals and organizations:

• Two awards were given in the “Bricks and Mortar Rehabilitation” category which recognizes superlative work in the restoration or rehabilitation of a historic property. Winners include Jeff Jones for the rehabilitation of 117 Record Street and Murphy Properties II, LLC for the rehabilitation of 734 North Market Street.

• Jayson and Jennifer Swafford were the awardees in the category of “New Construction” for the sensitive design and construction of an addition at 5 West 5th Street.

• The Board of County Commissioners of Frederick County was granted the “Stewardship” award for their exemplary maintenance of and impeccable workmanship at Winchester Hall, 12 East Church Street.

• The Tourism Council of Frederick County was the award winner in the category of “Community Leadership” for their extraordinary service to the City of Frederick as demonstrated in the Frederick Visitor Center, 151 South East Street.
