Frederick Police Department Investigates Homicide
FREDERICK, MD – At 1818 hours on May 16, 2018, Officer First Class Scott McGregor of the Frederick Police Department responded to a call from Frederick Memorial Hospital for a report of a domestic assault victim who was receiving care for serious injuries sustained during the assault. OFC McGregor interviewed the victim, who he identified as Diana Shaff Peckaitis, 72, of the 1500 block of West 10th Street in Frederick. She provided an account of the assault, and named the offender as her husband, George Worthington Ramer, 64, of the same address.
Officers were unable to locate Ramer initially, so OFC McGregor applied for an arrest warrant. A District Court Commissioner issued an arrest warrant, charging Ramer with 1st and 2nd degree assault. At about 0150 hours on May 17, officers located Ramer at his residence, and arrested him based on the active arrest warrant. He was served the arrest warrant at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
Later in the morning on May 17, FPD determined that the victim had been transferred to another hospital due to the seriousness of the injuries, her condition had worsened, and she had died. Detective Kevin Forrest was assigned the investigation. A search and seizure warrant was executed at Ramer’s residence.
Ramer is currently being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on a no bond status. This investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending once additional evidence is evaluated and the State’s Attorney’s Office is consulted.
The Frederick Police Department is asking anyone with information about this incident to contact Detective Forrest at 301-748-7122. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can contact the department by phone 301-600-TIPS (8477), text at 240-674-TIPS (8477), or email fpdcrimetip@frederickmdpolice.org.
