FREDERICK COUNTY COMMUNITY PARTNERS
PREPARE FOR G-8 SUMMIT

FREDERICK – Partners in public safety and law enforcement, county and municipal agencies and community organizations are coordinating at all levels to address public safety issues related to the upcoming G-8 Summit, May 18-19, at Camp David. A main component of these planning efforts is to keep citizens, visitors and the media informed with accurate, consistent and timely information about issues that may arise in Frederick County as the result of this international event.

Community partners are coordinating their resources and skills to host an Information Center during the G-8 Summit weekend to address concerns like road closures, traffic congestion and public safety issues. Beginning today, public information tools that will provide links, useful information and reports on developments are available, including a central webpage on the Frederick County Government website and social media pages on Facebook and Twitter.

In preparation for the summit weekend, citizens are encouraged to visit the new webpage at www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/G8Frederick, “like” the Information Center on Facebook at www.facebook.com/G8SummitFrederickCounty and follow the center on Twitter at www.twitter.com/G8Frederick.

Information will be provided as it becomes available on these sites, as well as through public service announcements, news releases and media advisories.

The Information Center is also coordinating efforts with the Tourism Council of Frederick County, Inc., which has prepared a new website, www.CampDavidG8Summit.com, to primarily serve international, local and regional media covering the G-8 Summit. The website provides useful media resources such as area information and local history in multiple languages; royalty-free images and video b-roll that can downloaded by many reporters at the same time; story ideas; local resources, and frequently asked questions.

In the interest of public safety, citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activity to their local law enforcement agency or call 9-1-1; remember, “If you see something, say something.”
