Frederick Police Arrest Serial Bank Robber
FREDERICK,
MD – On 05/04/18 at approximately 0630 hours, members of the Frederick Police
Department’s Criminal Investigations Division received information that an
individual was possibly headed to the area of Frederick to commit a bank
robbery. This individual was identified
as Gary Barnett (details below).
Members of
the Frederick Police Department, the FBI, and other allied agencies and Federal
partners took up points of observation in and around banks we believed to be
targets in the Frederick area.
At approximately
0916 hours, Mr. Barnett approached a bank on West Patrick Street and was taken
into custody without incident. Investigators
interviewed Mr. Barnett, and he admitted to be in the process of attempting a
robbery on today’s date, as well as several previous bank robberies within
Maryland, to include the PNC Bank Robbery on West Patrick Street on 3/16/18.
The
