On February 6th, the Frederick Police Department conducted Tobacco Compliance Checks of commercial establishments selling Tobacco products within the City of Frederick.
Frederick Police Officers, with the help of underage volunteers, were able to check 9 businesses for compliance with state laws prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to minors. Out of the 9 stores checks, 2 businesses sold tobacco products to a minor.
The Frederick Police Department would like to thank the following business establishments for their compliance with state laws:
- Giant Food- Kingfisher Dr.
- Exxon – 1991 Monocacy Blvd.
- Riverside Liquors – 1299 Riverbend Way
- Manny Mart – 119 S. Market St.
- H & R Food Market – 89 S. Market St.
- Fox’s Sport & Bait – 501 S. Market St.
- BP – 1111 E. Patrick St.
The following establishments DID NOT comply with the law and offenders will be issued citations:
- The Hop & Vine – 14 N. Market St.
- BP – 503 W. 7th St.
This operation was funded by a grant from the SYNAR Fund that is administered by the Frederick County Health Department, Substance Abuse Prevention Services. Merchant training is available to help in complying with the law and employee training.
