The Frederick Police Department is investigating an assault that occurred Friday morning at approximately 8:20 am in the 600 block of Heather Ridge Drive. The initial callers reported hearing gunshots in the area. A victim of an apparent assault was located a short time later with minor injuries. The wounds were not from a firearm. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The investigation is open at this time, and no suspect description is available. A silver sedan was seen leaving the area shortly after the assault.
