The Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Key Pkwy and Stonegate Dr. During the course of the traffic stop officers found crack cocaine and a stolen handgun.
On 11/29/2017, at approximately 5:10 PM, The Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Key Pkwy and Stonegate Dr. During the course of the traffic stop officers received consent to search the vehicle and the driver’s person.
The driver was identified as Bernard William Washington Jr. During a search of Washington’s pants pocket, officers found a bag containing crack cocaine. Additionally, a loaded .45 caliber handgun was also found inside of the vehicle. After running a check on the handgun it was discovered that it had been stolen. Officers also learned that Washington was prohibited from possessing any regulated firearm due to a previous criminal conviction.
Washington was arrested and transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center and charged with numerous offenses to include: Possession of Regulated Firearm after Being Convicted of a Crime of Violence, Possession of a Stolen Regulated Firearm & Possession of Crack Cocaine.
It should also be noted that Washington is currently out on bond for a separate pending case for illegal possession of a handgun. That case occurred earlier this month in Hagerstown, MD.
