FPD and DFRS Partner With Ausherman Properties

Media Invited to Attend Demonstration - Friday, June 9th at 2 pm

FREDERICK, MD – The Frederick Police Department along with the Frederick County Division of Fire & Rescue and Ausherman Properties have partnered to make the city a safer place. FPD Officers along with DFRS Medics have been utilizing a facility owned by Ausherman Properties to conduct tactical training and exercises.

The exercises involve pairing specially equipped and trained Medics with Police Officers to enter an active shooter environment. The goal is to provide life-saving medical intervention to the victims in the most time sensitive manner possible. Effective response by Officers and Medics during the first 30 minutes of an active shooter event is crucial. The First Responders of Frederick County are dedicated to properly training and equipping its personnel in order to make this County a safe place to live and work.

For the past three years, Ausherman has provided the building at 7630 Hayward Road, as a location for police officers and firefighters to role-play simulations of active shooter or terrorist situations and to formulate corresponding responses.

The Frederick Police Department, Division of Fire & Rescue, and Ausherman Properties would like to invite the media to attend one of the joint training sessions on Friday, June 9th at 2 pm at 7630 Hayward Road.

“We depend on our police officers and firefighters to keep us safe, so we are very pleased that they are using our building as a tactical training center. We are told the varying layout of rooms and hallways gives them the opportunity to practice for many potential emergencies,” said Marvin Ausherman, president of Ausherman Properties.

“Plus, private-public partnerships such as this one with the Frederick Police Department and Frederick County Fire and Rescue are critical to the ongoing growth of this community. Public safety is an integral part of economic development, so we’re very proud of our relationship with law enforcement in Frederick.”
