****Update****
As of this release, all repairs have been completed and the 600 Blk of West Patrick Street has been opened back up for normal pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
On 05/14/2017, at approximately 3:54 AM, The Frederick Police Department received a report of a vehicle accident in the 600 block of W Patrick St. Upon arrival, officers located a SUV that had left the roadway, struck an electric pole and turned over on its side. The driver of the vehicle was still inside, but was uninjured. The driver was identified as Alice Mbala Maninjwa (03-06-1976) of Gaithersburg, Maryland. Based upon the officer’s investigation Mrs Maninjwa was placed under arrest and charged with Driving Under The Influence of Alcohol.
Due to the impact of the vehicle, the electric pole was sheered in half and was hanging by the wires. For safety reasons the 600 block of W Patrick St between James St and Norva Ave has been closed. Potomac Edison has been contacted and is on scene; however it is unknown how long the repair will take. Until the repair to the pole has been made, the road will remain closed.
