Potomac Edison Telephone Scam 17-34579
The Frederick Police Department would like to advise residents of a possible telephone scam reported in the Frederick area. The Frederick Police Department has received several complaints regarding commercial businesses receiving telephone calls from a subject claiming to be a Potomac Edison representative. During the phone calls the caller has not requested money, but advises the subject they owe money on their account and if the amount is not paid their electric will be shut off. The complainants have disconnected the call quickly and contacted Potomac Edison directly. Each time Potomac Edison confirmed the accounts are not delinquent. If you get a similar call disconnect the call and contact Potomac Edison.
